Most scenes depict activities from the late 1800's in Western Europe. Photochrom(e) prints were created by first taking a black and white photograph and then 'painting' the image using a lithographic technique. Because of the technology of the time ( typically late 1800's ) most images are not the 'photographic' type image we're used to by today's standards of sharpness and clarity and they actually appear more like a classic impressionist painting. These make beautiful additions to any room and are often mistaken for paintings.
