The 1903 First Flight of Wilbur and Orville Wright took place at Kitty Hawk ( Kill Devil Hills ) North Carolina. There is a reproduction of the Wright Flyer on display at the tourism information site which clearly shows how fragile and dangerous the first flight was. The hills are very windy providing a great environment to lift a motorized flyer in the air.
