LOeuvre de Gustave Try publie Le Feu notes dun combattant par Henri Barbusse
Description: L'Oeuvre de Gustave Téry publie 'Le Feu' notes d'un combattant par Henri Barbusse Soldiers at the battlefront. Gustave Téry was editor and publisher of the Parisian daily newspaper 'l'Oeuvre.' He was one of the most brilliant writers of editorial opinions in France. The 'l'Oeuvre' was an independent newspaper with socialistic tendencies. It mostly contained commentary on the principal events of the day. Henri Barbusse (1874-1935) was a French writer and his best known novel was 'Le Feu.' Barbusse served in the war as a private in an infantry regiment and was cited twice for bravery. After the war he became a correspondent for the Socialist newspaper 'L'Humanité' and became an ardent pacifist. About that time he, along with others, founded the Republican Association of Former Combatants, which was largely responsible for the split in the French Socialist party resulting in the organization of the Communist party in 1920. Barbusse joined the Communist party in 1923 and died in Moscow while visiting there.
