Yes, This Is It! - the one you've been waiting for.
Ken Anthony Sings Christmas Songs!.. Yes, it's true and you can download
it now for free - yes, absolutely FREE (scroll down). But I'll bet
you're asking 'Who the heck is this Ken Anthony guy anyway?'.. Well, you'd
be right to ask.. And I'm glad you did!
Ken Anthony is one of the most exclusive artists on the planet. Often performing
to audiences of none, it is highly likely less than 10 people on Earth have
ever heard of Ken. So, in honor of obscurity, I'm giving away this fine exhibit
of Christmas music including the Hit Single 'Satellite Christmas',
an original new instant Christmas classic.
Actually, this project started as a personal project for my family. See,
I'm a cheapass and figured I'm going to send something 'personal' this year.
Kinda like a clay ash tray only most people don't smoke anymore so I had
to scramble for ideas.
Then it hit me.. Hey, take some traditional Christmas Songs, re-arrange
and record them, and make a big deal out of it by saying things like: 'I've
worked all year on this', 'It's very personal and dear to my heart', and
'I wrote this song especially for you!'...
Ok, you're not buying it.. I don't blame you. BUT it really did take a year
- I started in January 2008, laid down some traditional songs ( Good King
Wenceslas, The Wassail Song, and the Bell Carol ) but went
on to write Satellite Christmas ( heard it in a quasi-sleep state,
ran down the street, laid down the melody, and recorded it in a day - the
remixed it 27 times which took 6 of the 12 months ) and then decided to do
the ultimate lounge lizard version of Jingle Bells I could
come up with ( which isn't really live, but it was fun to pretend
).
The final track was The First Noel. I needed a real Christmas-sy ballad.
If you listen closely I think I sound like Joey Ramone on this track just
a little - maybe that's just me.
For the technical aficionados out there the entire cd was recorded using
a
Roland
BR1600, Korg Triton LE (drums,
horns, anything not a guitar), Ibanez
sz320 guitar, Epiphone Les Paul
bass, and an Alesis 3630 compressor.
The mastering was done with N-Track Studio
and the TLS Maximizer plug in.
I had originally used the BR1600 mastering but liked the TLS a little better.
No real reason. Recording began January 2008 and the cd was completed November
22, 2008 - nothing much was done July-October. Most tracks have natural doubled
vocals except Good King Wenceslas which is a triple. All guitar processing
is done using the BR 1600's internal G6 fx processor.
