| Color Washing.
In many of the new directions that call for adding water to the opaque stain to make a color wash, many people have asked,"How much water?" If you are using an opaque stain as an antique and want to pre-mix the paint and water, add 4 parts water to 1 part paint. Keep it stirred and brush liberally over the basecoated piece. Let dry. (It will have a much different appearance after drying). Drybrush if desired. Water Base Gold and Water Base Copper are excellent color washes. Add 1-1/2 parts water to 1 part paint and brush over the basecoat detailed pieces, then drybrush lightly. This looks best over deep colors. For the antique gold look, brush thinned Water Base Gold over Vanilla, then drybrush lightly with Vanilla. |
