The 'Jam To It!' series of CDs is designed to help you learn to jam and
improve your improvisational skills.
If you want to learn to play lead guitar this cd is a great place
to start! Jam To It! also teaches Major and Minor scales and provides jam
tracks to practice them with.
Included in 'Jam To It! Volume 2' is a 10 page instruction booklet
containing scales, fingering, and the chord charts for all the jams on the
CD and a full length CD containing the Jam tracks and a tutorial.
This CD series is intended for beginner, intermediate, and expert
musicians alike. While primarily focused on guitar players, other
instruments can benefit from the core element of this series - the jams
themselves.
Beginners will appreciate the scales and chord charts
included with this series as well as examples of what the scales sound
like on the CD tutorial. Intermediate and advanced players will appreciate
the 10-minute 'workout' jams provided on these CDs that are all played by
human - not a simple MIDI loop repeated for 10 minutes. This allows players
to learn to 'listen' to other players who don't always play what you're
thinking. This is 'Jamming'
- The ability of players to work together
and improvise music within a semi - structured musical environment.
The first track of this CD contains a tutorial with information on
using the scale charts shown in these pages. The last 5 tracks are each 10-minute
long 'jams' in standard musical keys. Other CDs in this series will focus
on other keys and musical styles.
How To Use This CD
Just pop the jam CD in any audio CD player, select the track you want to
jam with, and play along. Beginners will find track 1 helpful by allowing
you to hear the scales actually played. Use the scale shown in the track
list for each jam - this may require moving the 'box' up or down the fret
board. Begin by using the primary node (box) which is the first scale on
each scale page. As an exercise simply move your finger up and down the scale
in time with the music. As you become more confident with each scale experiment
by jumping around the notes within the scale. You'll then progress to the
other 'boxes' and eventually tie them all together seamlessly. Using the
jam CD will improve your timing and articulation. Keep the chord and scale
sheets nearby for reference.
